Shrewsbury u3a (University of the Third Age) offers learning opportunities for anyone is no longer in full time employment. It offers a chance to continue to learn, laugh and live amongst new friends. The branch offers over 100 special interest groups covering a wide variety of subjects including: architecture, archaeology, art and antiques, family and local history, gardening and garden history, language groups, music, philosophy, photography, poetry, theatre and walking. Monthly meetings are normally held on third Monday of each month starting at 10.30am, and prospective members can attend one meeting and / or a study group meeting before deciding whether to join. There are also Coffee Time drop-in sessions at Palmers Café on Claremont Street, on the last Friday of each month (except December), between 2pm and 3.30pm, and prospective members who wish to find out more about the u3a are most welcome to pop along for a friendly chat.
