Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust’s Falls Therapy Service is a specialist team of Falls Prevention Practitioners, including physiotherapists, occupational therapist, nurse and rehabilitation technicians, aiming to reduce the number of falls and fall-related injuries. The Service offers assessments to people who are living in Shropshire and registered with a Shropshire GP, who have fallen, are at risk of falling, or are fearful of falling. Assessments are carried out in either clinical settings or in community venues across the county, and are aimed at trying to find out what is making you more likely to fall. The Falls Therapy Service is generally for over 65s, but younger adults identified at risk will be assessed and treated according to their individual need. They do not accept self-referrals and advise you to contact your GP for this. Referrals are accepted from health care professionals, and all referrals should be directed to the Falls Therapy Service by email to the address provided. Progressive strength and balance exercise programmes held in community venues around Shropshire are available throughout the year.
