Holme Lacy College provides an attractive range of agricultural and rural crafts-related courses. Holme Lacy Campus offers an outstanding learning environment, designed to give students the practical skills, knowledge and experience for successful progression to their chosen career or university. Set above the beautiful River Wye, the college boasts they are a specialist land-based college campus and commercially managed 257-hectare estate, which includes an arable, beef and sheep farm, woodlands, orchards and lakes. They offer full-time and part-time courses in subjects such as agriculture, blacksmithing and metal work, farriery, welding, horse care and management, forestry & arboriculture and animal care. They also offer part-time courses to include some statutory and certificate courses required in certain professions, such as safe use of chainsaws and different types of pesticide. They have Level 2 certificate courses available to study via distance learning (online) and we also offer free, government-funded courses for adults including Level 3 qualifications and courses to improve your maths and numeracy. The College offers many low-cost short courses for adults (19 years+) too. The rural crafts centre is home to the National School of Blacksmithing and the largest training-based forge in Europe. Hereford School of Farriery is the historic home of farriery training in the UK. You can view the rural crafts short courses HERE. They are committed to boosting skills in low carbon, renewable technologies such as electric vehicles, solar, ground and air source heat pumps, water harvesting and more, as part of the Marches Education Partnership.
