Shrewsbury Civic Society, established in 1963, is a non-political organisation which brings together many individuals and corporate members who seek to maintain and advance Shrewsbury as a pleasant place to live and work in, with a building environment of the highest quality. The Civic Society has a formal role as a community watchdog commenting on planning applications for new buildings and developments, guarding against unsympathetic changes to conservation areas and historic buildings.
