Oswestry Library hosts a Junior Writers’ Group for young people in school years 3 to 8 (aged 7 to 13) who love writing, with sessions run by professional writers. These fun sessions take place at Oswestry Library, on selected Saturday afternoons (as listed), from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, and booking is essential via the Spark Young Writers website: 27 September 2025, 18 October 2025, 15 November 2025, 06 December 2025, 03 January 2026, 07 February 2026, 21 March 2026, 18 April 2026, 16 May 2026, and 20 June 2026. The cost for the year is £100 (or £10 per session) and you can pay via a one-off bulk card payment, or by monthly direct debit. Alternatively, you can choose to book a one-off taster session so that your young writer can try before they commit to the programme. Free places are available to those who receive free school meals or pupil premium funding at school. The young people will need to bring: a notebook or some paper, a pen or pencil to write with, a snack and a drink, if they wish.
