The Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Walking Group based in Shrewsbury offers friendly and fun walking for health opportunities for everyone.Previously part of the national Walking for Health initiative, these are short, gentle, social walks designed to enable people to enjoy some exercise out in the fresh air.The walks are led by trained volunteer walk leaders who lead the walk at a pace to suit those who come along. They are free and you do not need to book – just turn up a few minutes early to your first walk so that you can meet the walk leader. They are a great way to enjoy some exercise in a friendly social group, and evaluation shows that they help walkers feel fitter, breath easier, lose weight, make new friends, discover new local places and much more. This Group meets twice a month, with walks starting from a variety of locations. The duration of the walks are approximately 45 to 60 mins, and if you have time after the walk, there are refreshments available at one of the local cafes in town. The Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin group walks are slower pace. There are no hills or styles to climb but depending on the route there may be inclines, steps and cobbled areas, so please wear suitable footwear. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed, with the exception of assistance dogs. For more information, including details of where and when they are next meeting, please follow the link to visit the Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin website, or contact their Wellbeing Services Team, using the details provided.
