Shropshire Supports Refugees promotes awareness of migration issues and co-ordinates a range of activities that help refugees settle into their new area, improving well-being for themselves and their children. The charity has developed a new support service at The Community Hub, from where they co-ordinate a number of further support systems, and hold an ad-hoc support clinic with Shropshire Council’s Refugee Resettlement Co-ordinator, which includes interpreter support. ?Shropshire Supports Refugees can help to provide assistance with issues such as housing, benefits, work, medical support with GPs, hospital visits, and support around mental health. They also offer: collection of household goods, toys, clothes, fundraising to provide families with larger household items, such as kitchen appliances, TVs, etc, English practice volunteers / befriending (all DBS checked), educational workshops, activity days, and parties, group sessions on a range of subjects, and children’s education support.
