STFC Foundation host Premier League Kicks – a fully funded programme by the Premier League, meaning that this is a free football programme, with sessions that are completely free to participants. The main aims of these sessions are to increase sporting participation, and also to provide a fun, safe and structured environment for children and young people to enjoy partaking in sporting activity. These sessions take place at Shrewsbury Sports Village each Friday, from 4pm to 5pm, and offer mixed sessions for boys and girls, aged 8 to 13 and 14 to 18. There is also an educational side to Premier League Kicks, where the Foundation work with key community partners to deliver presentations and workshops to the participants. Some of the partners they have worked with include: West Mercia Police, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, The Royal Irish Regiment, and Network Rail. In addition, participants may potentially get the opportunity to represent Shrewsbury Town FC in fixtures against other clubs’ PL Kicks participants also.
