The Long Mynd Soaring Club is a very long established hang-gliding and paragliding club, and boasts one of the best westerly sites in the country, as well as a number of other sites taking most wind directions. There is a joining fee of £30.00 per year, and this includes various benefits. The Long Mynd take off field is owned by the club. It is located just east of the border between England and mid-Wales, and is one of the best hang gliding and paragliding sites in the UK. There is a site fee of £3.00 per day payable by non-members flying any day. (Refer to The Long Mynd Soaring Club website for club and flying site information.) In order to fly their sites, pilots must be BHPA members, or be members of the equivalent foreign national association. All persons undertaking flying activities on LMSC sites agree to abide by the requirements and recommendations of the BHPA, as well as those of the LMSC. The Club also manages a number of other sites in Shropshire and East Wales on behalf of members, taking a variety of wind directions. Several sites are members only. Visiting pilots need to review the site guide carefully on the website to check on flying access during the year. There are a number of coaches within the club, who will help any pilots seeking advice on the hill.
