Shrophoppers Ceilidh Group is the place to learn or practice what was once known as barn dancing, but is now better known as ceilidh dancing; mostly English folk dancing with some Scottish and French folk dances being introduced. Sessions take place at St Chad’s Church Hall on the third Tuesday of each month, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and there is a charge of £6 on the door. Sessions are led by caller and instructor, Lisa, who is a accompanied by husband, John, with both live or recorded music, and everyone is welcome to this fun sociable group: young, old, singles, couples, groups, beginners and the more accomplished. The Group also meet up at village ceilidhs and barn dances being held in the surrounding area, so there will always have someone to dance and have fun with. No special clothing is required, but comfy shoes are recommended.
