Positive Leap was set up to meet the demand for specialist assessments and tuition. Support is provided for children and adults with a range of Specific Learning Difficulties and for those experiencing literacy and numeracy difficulties. In addition advice can be given regarding appropriate access arrangements for exam candidates. Positive Leap also has two fully qualified Occupational Therapists, a Counsellor, Speech and Language Therapist and Educational Psychologist. The Specialist Teachers have a range of experience in catering for the needs of individuals with a variety of Specific Learning Difficulties. All teachers at Positive Leap have professional indemnity and public liability insurance and hold a DBS Certificate.Assessments – Full diagnostic assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties can be carried out at Positive Leap. These generally take around three hours and may be completed over one or two sessions, depending on the individual being assessed. Assessments cover underlying ability, cognitive processing and attainments in literacy (and numeracy); further diagnostic assessments are carried out where appropriate. The written report produced following an assessment is detailed, with broad recommendations for support and accommodations.Literacy support – Positive Leap caters for a range of ages and teaching is tailored to individual need. Time is taken to discover how each person learns and remembers key information, as this is crucial to teaching and learning. Strategies are used to increase understanding as well as develop memory techniques. Tuition is available to improve reading, spelling, writing and fine motor control; organisational skills as well as study and revision techniques can be addressed.Numeracy support – Jayne Evans specialises in teaching pupils with maths difficulties, supporting learning needs from the acquisition of basic numeracy skills through to GCSE level. All teachers involved in delivering numeracy support at Positive Leap, where possible, teach maths in a practical way. There is an emphasis on developing ‘understanding’ rather than concentrating on how quickly calculations can be completed. When individuals understand a mathematical concept the need to memorise information is greatly reduced. For more information, please contact the provider.#AlternativeProvision We're sorry but <%= htmlWebpackPlugin.options.title %> doesn't work properly without JavaScript enabled.
