As a martial art, the central aim of karate is to teach self-defence. Taught in the traditional way, karate also teaches so much more: conflict avoidance, dealing with bullying, improving self-confidence, respectful behaviour, increasing fitness, strength and health. It is a very rewarding way to have fun. The MKD club are a traditional Karate Club, learning physical self-defence techniques as well as nurturing good character and respectful behaviour. The Clubs Chief Instructor is Chris Mileham Sensei, 8th Dan. They welcomes beginners as well as experienced practitioners a likes. They have classes for children 5+, teens and adults, with classes tailored to all ages, abilities and levels. Students are taught in age-appropriate groups:Karate Kids – aged 5-7 yearsCadets – Aged 8 – 11 yearsJuniors – aged 12- 15 yearsSeniors – aged 16+The club are members of and regulated by Shukokai England, the English Karate Federation (EKF) and the SSWU (Shitoryu Shukokai Karatedo World Union) Classes are held in the evening on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
