The British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS) is a registered UK charity, dedicated to helping and protecting hedgehogs native to the UK (Erinaceus europaeus). Founded in 1982, the Society works to raise awareness of the practical steps that can be taken to help reverse the decline of hedgehogs in the wild, improve their welfare and safeguard the future of this much-loved animal, through their ampaigns, advocacy and educational projects. They also fund research that provides important new insights into the conservation and welfare of hedgehogs. The charity can offer help and advice to those with sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs, and maintain a list of independent hedgehog rescue centres across the UK. If you are concerned about a hedgehog please visit the First Aid page on their website, or contact them by telephone using the number provided.
