Church Stretton Repair Cafe is managed by Stretton Climate Care, with the aim of helping the environment by reusing valuable resources and avoiding unnecessary waste. A range of items can be repaired, including: clean textiles, eg clothing and bedding; small electrical items, eg kettles; small pieces of furniture; computers both software and hardware; acoustic musical instruments; bicycles; and toys. NB: Only one item per person please. No items larger than one person can carry. All electrical items must pass a Portable Appliance Test (PAT) before any repair can be attempted. Please email if you wish to check if your item is suitable for repair. The following items cannot be considered for repair: TVs, microwaves, handheld devices such as mobile phones and iPads, Apple Mac computers, electronic musical instruments, and petrol-driven garden appliances. Church Stretton Repair Cafe takes place at The Scout Hut on the second Saturday of each month, from 10am to 12noon, and free tea, coffee and cakes will be available. Volunteers will try to do small repairs on the day or at least diagnose the problem. If parts need to be ordered, or it is a bigger job, then they may have to arrange for your item to be returned to you on a mutually agreed day. Customers undertake to pay for any specialised spare parts, and a voluntary donation to cover the Cafe’s running costs is requested. In the summer, Shrewsbury Cycle Hub aim to be there, so you can bring your bike along for a free check-up and basic repairs (please call in advance to check if they will be in attendance).
