Here at Farm Friends, we strive to offer a fun and secure learning environment where each child can feel loved, respected and have their individual needs met. We pride ourselves on offering a stimulating environment where each child is encouraged to have a positive attitude to learning, giving them access to resources and opportunities that enlighten their capabilities as a successful learner. We are a nursery on a farm which gives the children unique experiences such as seeing farm animals like cows, sheep and turkeys. Local offer for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities: Some children may require a little additional support due to special educational needs and/or disabilities and are set simple achievable targets to work towards over a six-week period. We have reduced the numbers in our Percy Piglets room as some of the children in this room need more support due to special educational needs and/or disabilities. Reducing the numbers allows the room to be less busy and provide the children with a calming environment and for the children to receive targeted support. Activities to support this are incorporated into the weekly plan, then reviewed on a regular basis. The new SEN Support Plan was introduced in 2019. It is now a rolling document used to ‘plan, do and review’ to support children in reaching specific targets. As this is all incorporated into one document it is clearer to monitor progress and see when targets have been met. The child’s key person is responsible for completing the SEN support plans, with guidance and support from the setting’s SENCOs. PCPs are shared with parents to ensure a holistic approach. We also seek support from the SEN team at Shropshire Council as and when necessary and may apply for additional funding if children are eligible. Some children have EHCP’s which also have specific targets which are incorporated into our weekly planning. When children attend more than one setting, we work closely with the child’s other key person. This is to ensure everyone has the same approach towards the child’s needs.
