Pancreatic Cancer Action was founded to promote awareness of the disease and raise funds for research to aid early detection. Their mission is to improve pancreatic cancer survival rates by ensuring more people are diagnosed early and in time for surgery – currently the only potential for a cure – and improve the quality of life for patients. They do this by: Raising public awareness of pancreatic cancer and its symptoms, which may include: mid back pain or discomfort, upper abdominal pain or discomfort, jaundice, loss of appetite, pain on eating, unexplained weight loss, change in bowel habit, pale and smelly stools, nausea and vomiting and new-onset diabetes; Helping HealthCare professionals diagnose pancreatic cancer sooner by providing free resources and accredited e-learning; Funding research to help find a diagnostic test for pancreatic cancer; Providing free, easy to understand, patient information; Campaigning for change on a national and global level.
