Welcome to Highley Community Primary School which is a happy school where we aim to maximise each learning opportunity and celebrate children’s successes every step of the way. We are the only school in Highley and are very much at the centre of the community. We aim to celebrate our surroundings and we learn about the history of the school and wider local area including the Severn Valley, and also the village’s rich mining heritage. As such, we have a strong curriculum focus on local heritage which we build upon year-on-year. We operate an ‘open door’ policy at Highley and recognise the importance of communicating with the parents and families of the children in our care. Our key values have recently been revised to reflect the values that the whole school community feels are important for our children and our aspirations for the people they will become. These values are ‘respect’, ‘resilience’ and ‘relationships’ – our ‘3 Rs’: That children show ‘respect’ to each other, to adults and that we are all considerate of people’s feelings That we strive to have positive ‘relationships’; that everybody within our school community works as part of a team to support and care for each other That children are learners who show ‘resilience’, that challenge themselves to keep improving and be the best they can possibly be Staff are centred on building children’s resilience so that they can overcome barriers to learning and thrive.
