The annual Shrewsbury Steam Rally is one of Shropshire’s biggest events of the year, with something for all the family. A fantastic two-day event held over the August Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday, within the picturesque venue of Onslow Park, just outside of Shrewsbury.Each year the Rally attracts thousands of people to marvel at the many vintage and steam-powered vehicles of all shapes and sizes, either in action in the Main Arena or on static display for closer inspection.Over 1,200 exhibits, including:Steam-powered traction engines, lorries and carsHistoric military vehiclesVintage/classic cars, commercial vehicles and busesClassic motorbikes and bicyclesVintage tractors (working and static)Vintage fairground and organsPrams and pushchairsStationary/Oil EnginesMiniature Steam EnginesVintage Tractor PullingWorking HorsesThe working field brings the past back to life with demonstrations showing the history of farming and rural skills through the last century, with teams of shire horses ploughing part of the site, as well as steam-powered cultivating.With the ever-expanding Crafts & Hobbies Marquee and over six acres of Trade Stands, there’s plenty to browse in that never-ending search for a bargain.There’s also plenty of food and drink at stalls around the Rally site, as well as a licensed bar.
