Shrewsbury Basketball Development Club aims to provide a basketball session for players in Shropshire who don’t currently have an appropriate session for their skill level / needs. Most players are either beginners looking to learn the basics or experienced players who can no longer commit to league basketball and find unstructured pickup sessions frustrating. Weekly sessions take place at the Roman Road Sports Centre in Shrewsbury, each Wednesday evening from 8pm to 9.30pm, with a small charge of £5 per person. These sessions focus on providing development in a positive environment where players feel comfortable, enjoy basketball and look forward to seeing each other every week. The philosophy of the club is to help any player who wants to play basketball find an environment which suits their skill level / needs. Beginners get to learn, earn playing time and will be encouraged to move on to the level that suits them when ready. Experienced players get to enjoy occasional competitive games without the commitment of league basketball, whilst passing on their knowledge. Any players who can’t get what they need from the club will be assisted in finding another session in the area that suits them better.
