Marmalade Trust is a UK charity dedicated to recognising loneliness and helping people make new friendships. The main aim of charity is to create a society where it is recognised that loneliness exists and to encourage people to support each other to find new social connections. Chronic loneliness is one of the biggest health concerns currently faced, with as many as nine million people in the UK acknowledging they often feel lonely, but by building our understanding of loneliness, it is possible to help ourselves and others to manage the feeling. In 2017, Marmalade Trust pioneered the first-ever Loneliness Awareness Week (LAW) campaign, to help reduce the stigma of loneliness and to empower everyone talk more openly about it. Although the Marmalade Trust is based in based in Bristol and offers their services in that area, they do provide a wealth of useful information on their website for people suffering from feelings of loneliness.
