The Quaker faith is almost 400 years old, having grown out of Christianity. It is the common name for the Religious Society of Friends, with members of the Society also often simply called Friends. Quaker values include: There is something sacred in all people. All people are equal before God. Religion is about the whole of life. In stillness we find a deeper sense of God’s presence. True religion leads to respect for the earth and all life upon it. Each person is unique, precious, a child of God. The Church Stretton Quakers meet at the Sylvester Horne Institute each Sunday, at 10.30am for one hour. Visitors to the meeting are always most welcome. Currently around 23,000 people attend nearly 475 Quaker meetings in Britain, and Quakers are active in peace work, human rights and social reform.
