Safe Places is a community led initiative supported by Shropshire Council, Telford & Wrekin Council, and West Mercia Police. It provides a network of short-term ‘safe havens’ for people who may require additional support and assistance when they are out and about in the community. The aim of Safe Places is to provide vulnerable individuals with a number of places that they know they can go to and immediately receive support and understanding about their issues. This includes people with learning disabilities or those who live with anxiety attacks or dementia. or other disabilities. They may also be used by individuals who might not usually think of themselves as vulnerable, but circumstances occur which can make them feel vulnerable. Safe Places are available for anyone to use. Each location that signs up to the initiative will display a sticker that identifies it as a Safe Place. They should also have a box of “help” cards enabling you to pick up a card either for yourself or for someone you know who may find one useful. On the back of the card, the holder puts their name and the telephone number of a parent, guardian or trusted friend. This scheme gives people more confidence to travel independently around Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. It will also allow carers to feel reassured that there is always likely to be help nearby for their loved ones. For more information, please follow the link to visit the Safe Places Shropshire website or contact Ruby using the details provided, or Ann by telephone on 07970 816030 or via email to: safeplacessecretary@gmail.com We're sorry but <%= htmlWebpackPlugin.options.title %> doesn't work properly without JavaScript enabled.
