Ludlow Art Society are a group of artists from Ludlow and the wider Marches region who have joined together to share ideas in pursuit of artistic excellence. Their members are of all ages, and of all levels of ability from amateur to professional, and they cover everything from drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, glasswork, printing and textiles to digital art and more. The Society hold monthly meetings where invited artists give lively talks and demonstrations on all sorts of aspects of art. These meetings usually take place on the first Thursday of each month, starting at 7.30pm . Two major selling exhibitions are held each year at St Laurence’s Church in the centre of Ludlow. Over the years these exhibitions have developed a reputation that attracts dealers and buyers from a very wide area. The Society is very active with around 80 members, and they aim to encourage public appreciation of art as well as provide learning opportunities for their own members. They also hold outdoor painting meetings, social evenings, an annual art trail as part of Ludlow Fringe Festival, and occasional skills workshops. The society is run by volunteers on a non-profit basis, and anyone can join.
