Situated on the southern outskirts of Shrewsbury, our friendly, welcoming school was built in 1955 as two separate schools, Meole Brace C of E Infant School and Nursery and Meole Brace Junior School, which amalgamated in 2009 to form Meole Brace C of E Primary School and Nursery. Having originally been two schools, we are fortunate to benefit from vast amounts of space, both inside and out, with large playing fields and playgrounds and light, spacious classrooms. We also have two large halls, a stunning, well-stocked library and a recently installed computer suite. Our beautiful Foundation Stage Unit contains a 64 place Nursery and two Reception classes. As a school and a community we give children every opportunity to flourish and let the light of God shine through them. Our curriculum supports our aim of ensuring children have a strong sense of identity and inclusion by developing their knowledge and understanding of the local and wider communities of which they are a part. We offer before and after school provision to our families with Breakfast Club and After-School Care running from two locations on site for our younger and older children. Sandcastles runs out of our Nursery and caters for children in EYFS and Key Stage 1, while Lighthouse is based in a demountable building to the rear of the school and this is where Key Stage 2 children attend. Breakfast club starts at 8am and the afterschool runs until from end of school until 6pm. At Breakfast Club children enjoy breakfasts of cereal, toast, fruit and fruit juices and at Sandcastles and Lighthouse after school, they are provided with a fruit snack, followed later on by a light sit-down meal, e.g. beans on toast and a drink, during Session 2. Meole Brace Schools nursery allows children can choose to play inside or in the outdoor area throughout the day. Inside we have a book and talking corner, a small world and construction area, creative corner, writing and mark-making area, maths area, role play area and a large interactive white board for them to play with and a sensory tray. In the outdoor area we have a mud kitchen, water play, sand play, role play, large and small construction, climbing frame, ball skills, bikes and trikes and many other areas and activities. Forest School takes place on a Friday morning. We strongly believe in the importance of inclusion and equality for all children and we strive to ensure that these values are at the heart of our SEND practices alongside our school values of community, respect and perseverance.
