The Friday Singers are a ladies’ choir that meets on Friday mornings at 10.15am in the Baptist Church Central Hall in Shrewsbury town centre from September through to mid-July (with breaks for half terms and other school and public holidays). The choir was started in 2005 with just 16 members and has now grown to 50 members. They give occasional concerts to raise money for charity. The emphasis of the choir is to enjoy singing in a group, whatever the previous musical experience or ability of members. A fee is charged at the beginning of each 12 or 13 week term to cover the cost of the hire of the hall, fees for the conductor and piano accompanist, and the provision of sheet music.
