Shropshire Cat Rescue was launched as a registered charity in 1998 and has developed into a shelter for homeless cats (and other animals) on a 2.5 acre site. In addition to offering shelter, veterinary care, rehabilitation and socialisation to the animals, the charity also encourages community groups to work alongside them to promote health and wellbeing in adults and children alike. The charity is run entirely by volunteers and is supported by a charity shop in Roushill Bank, Shrewsbury, a sponsorship scheme and fundraising for which committed volunteers are regularly sought. Application forms are available on the website or from the shelter. The shelter is open to the public on the first and third Saturdays of the month from April to September, between 12noon and 4pm, without an appointment. The Shelter is closed to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays, but appointments are available between 11am and 3pm on other weekdays.
