Lydbury North Church of England Primary School is a small and friendly village school, with a big heart. The school prides itself on providing the opportunities of a large school alongside the family feel of a small school. Our pupils establish strong and supportive relationships with each other and all staff members as they move through the school. At Lydbury North, our pupils develop a love of learning. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which is creative, inspiring and fun. Our school is situated in rural Shropshire, just outside the town of Bishops Castle. Our location is ideal for making use of the surrounding countryside. All of our pupils attend forest school sessions, which take place in Walcot Arboretum. In addition, we have a large field with a trim trail. The children make use of the field for outdoor learning opportunities alongside sports coaching. We regularly attend sports festivals and competitions, where the children play alongside and compete against pupils from other schools in the local area and every child has the opportunity to attend these. Each year, every pupil attends swimming lessons at the Sparc, with the chance to gain swimming awards and badges. Lydbury North offers a breakfast club every day from 8am. Children are provided with a healthy breakfast of cereal and toast plus a drink of milk. There is a small charge of £2 per child per session. Currently, due to a lack of consistent demand, we do not provide after school child care. Our small friendly school maintained nursery unit allows each child to be treated as an individual; ensuring that the learning experiences offered are unique to each child, and are able to accommodate every child’s stage of development. Our aim is to provide a happy, caring, stimulating environment for young children to learn – capturing their natural curiosities and interests and nurturing a love of learning. Lydbury North Nursery is open five days a week during term time from 9:00 am until 3:00pm. We also offer breakfast provision from 8am, which nursery are welcome to access alongside the rest of the school family. We welcome children from age 2 and upwards. We offer a nutritious hot lunch every day. The nursery children join the school family for their lunch and outdoor play. During this time, they are supervised by a nursery assistant to ensure their needs are met. Children at Lydbury North Nursery work very closely with children in reception and join Maple class throughout the year for weekly music sessions and other special occasions. In addition, the children are provided with forest school sessions alongside many outdoor experiences.
