Re-engage (previously Contact the Elderly) is a charity that exists to provide social activities for older people at a time when social circles may be diminishing. Supported by over 9,000 volunteers across the UK, they run group and one-to-one social activities to help people over 75 facing loneliness and social isolation expand their social circle in a friendly, safe environment. Their services include: Call companions – a free service for older people who live alone and feel they would enjoy a friendly phone call every week or two, and Monthly Sunday tea parties – small, sociable gatherings supported and hosted by volunteers in local communities.
