Bishop’s Castle Community Food Bank aims to provide food and other resources to those in need within and around the Bishop’s Castle area. The food bank opened in April 2020 as a direct response to the pandemic, and also to fill the gap created by the Clun Community Larder closing. They have around 24 volunteers, and provide food and other supplies to an average of 80-90 individuals a week. They also deliver to households who cannot get to the foodbank for one reason or another.Bishop’s Castle Community Food Bank is run independently and operates on three core principles:no referral is needed:no proof of need is required; andtheir customers are treated exactly as that. They are free to choose the things they want, it is not pre-bagged for them. The food bank is available from the Church Barn, and is open twice a week:Tuesday mornings, from 10am to 11.30am, andThursday afternoons, from 2.30pm to 4pm.For more information, please follow the link to visit their Facebook page, or if you are interested in volunteering, contact using the email address provided.Registered charity number: 1190595A.
