Wellington was awarded Walkers are Welcome status in June 2010. They have two aims,to promote the interests of local walkers in Wellington, andto promote Wellington to walkers elsewhere.The group belongs to the national network of Walkers are Welcome (WaW) towns. The group organises walks at 2pm on the first and third Sundays of each month and also a Walking Festival in September.
