Community Resource offer a Functional Fitness MOT, a free falls prevention workshop to check your fitness and build a personal plan to stay active. Shropshire residents aged 60 and over, who want to stay active, feel steadier on your feet, or are concerned about falling, are most welcome, whether you’re already active or just getting started. These friendly, three hour workshops are designed to help you feel more confident and steady on your feet, and will include: a one-to-one fitness check, simple tests to see how your strength, balance and agility compare to others your age; a gentle exercise taster session and information on local exercise providers; a falls prevention talk and film, practical tips to stay safe at home, create a personal falls plan, and learn how to get up safely; and a take home pack, that includes your fitness results and a personal action plan designed by you. Community Resource also run other health workshops covering a range of different topics including arthritis, continence, diabetes, falls prevention, healthy eating, menopause and stroke.
