A Functional Fitness MOT is a one-to-one fitness test of strength, balance, flexibility and stamina, which measures performance against what is normal for your age. Seven simple tasks are measured by a trained instructor, followed by a conversation about current and possible physical activities.Community Resource is inviting Shropshire residents aged over 60 to register for a Functional Fitness MOT, and after the fitness test, there will be a short film and talk about reducing the risk of falling, with a demonstration of ways to get up from the floor after a fall. There will also be the opportunity of a short taster gentle exercise class. There are several tips for reducing the risk of falls and fractures, but the most important is to improve strength and balance, to avoid falling in the first place. There are exercises you can do at home and specific strength and balance classes across the county. It is never too early or late to start. For more information about the Functional Fitness MOT events, please follow the link to visit their website, or use the contact details provided.
