The Shropshire branch of the Grounds Management Association was formed in 1981 and is part of the national Grounds Management Association (GMA), which is the leading body that represents all those involved in groundsmanship, greenkeeping, turf culture, landscaping, horticulture and amenity management. The aim of the organisation is to support all members through the provision of a wide range of services. Membership benefits include regular meetings, educational talks and excursions arranged by the Shropshire Branch throughout the year. These give members the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other amateur associates, experienced professionals and trade suppliers. Other benefits include free legal advice, reductions on GMA training courses and examinations, and discounts when using GMA consultants. Members can also keep up to date with sportsturf developments and events with a free copy of the Groundsman magazine. The GMA offers free membership to students studying groundsmanship, greenkeeping and horticultural related studies.
