The Shrewsbury Theatre Singers is a fun and exciting choir for both adults and children, and is open to anyone eight years and over. Choir sessions take place at Bayston Hill Methodist Church on Tuesdays, from 5.30pm to 7pm during term time, for 12 weeks per term. The aims of the choir are to excel in musical theatre singing and stage presence, learn good vocal techniques and work on strong harmony singing. Movement and / or acting also plays a part, with plenty of opportunities for solo and small group singing if desired. Above all else, they strive to be a relaxed and fun choir where everyone can be themselves and enjoy musical theatre. Sheet music and lyrics are provided, as well as guide tracks to learn from and sing along to at home. Live piano accompaniment is used in all rehearsals, as are backing tracks when needed to learn moves. Each term ends with a showcase, a concert, or both, and other performance opportunities are available, as are choir social events.
