Aphasia Re-Connect was set up in November 2016, to support people living with aphasia. It was set up by Sally McVicker, who has thirty years’ experience of working with people with aphasia, and who worked formerly for Connect, the communication disability network. Every five minutes someone in the UK has a stroke. One in three who survive stroke will be living with the communication disability aphasia. Each year the number of people in the UK with aphasia grows by about 20,000. Many people with a communication disability will feel isolated and frustrated. They will know what they want to say, but struggle to say it. Aphasia Re-Connect has a new and developing website that gives access to publications, expertly-written and developed in partnership people living with aphasia.
