This service is provided by the social work team at Severn Hospice to families living in the Shropshire, Telford and Mid-Wales regions. The Elephants Never Forget service helps children and families who have a relative with an incurable illness or who have experienced the death of a relative who are known or have been known to the hospice. The team can provide support in a number of ways and how they do this depends on what each family says they need. They always try to be as flexible as is possible. Here are some of the ways they have helped over the years:By providing information, such as what to tell the children about death and dying; should children go to funerals; how children grieve.By providing reading and activity books for children.By running age specific groups for bereaved children in which they can express themselves and share their experiences.By spending time with the family in order to explore whatever is important to the family. This can be done with all the family together or in any combination including one to one.Who to ContactName Social Work TeamTelephone 01743 236565Website Elephants Never Forget websiteHelping with bereavementAvailability informationMonday to Friday – 9am to 5pmNotesThis is not a crisis service and there may be a time-lapse between making a request for help and a worker being available. In addition to the support that we offer children and families, we also offer support and advice to other professionals whose work brings them into contact with families of the dying or bereaved who are known or have been known to the hospice For further information or to request a support form from the Elephants Never Forget Service, please contact the Social Work Team We're sorry but <%= htmlWebpackPlugin.options.title %> doesn't work properly without JavaScript enabled.
