The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity, founded in 1889 and run by a Council of volunteers. It is the largest wildlife conservation charity in Europe, and works for the conservation of wild birds, other wildlife and the places in which they live. The Society depends on people and especially on the time, commitment and financial support of their members and supporters to achieve its aims. The Charity currently has over one million members – young and old, urban and rural, from every corner of the UK. RSPB members volunteer thousands of hours working directly for birds and wildlife, and are the charity’s biggest source of income.
