WALX in the Marches (formerly Shropshire Hills Nordic Walking) offers a range of group fitness activities, mainly outdoors in the glorious Shropshire countryside, and with Nordic Walking at its heart. It is run by Nordic Walking UK accredited instructor, Beverley Turner An excellent form of all-over body exercise, Nordic Walking turns the humble walk into an all over body workout. It improves core strength, range of movement and mobility in many major joints, uses up to 95% of muscles, whilst keeping the weight out of your joints. Because it uses so many muscles, it is a great cardiovascular exercise, but doesn’t feel like hard work. It is great for wellbeing and good mental health too, as it makes you feel good, and is sociable. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Main operating areas are the south of the county, (mainly, but not exclusively, in the Church Stretton / Craven Arms areas) and Attingham Park, but also in Shrewsbury and the surrounding area. Activities include an introductory session on using Nordic Walking poles (Power of Poles), wellbeing walks with standing yoga, and a range of fitness sessions.
