The LLIMEYS (Friends of Llanymynech Limeworks) work with Shropshire Council to conserve and protect the Local Nature Reserve, Grade II listed historic buildings and the old tramways leading from Llanymynech Hill to the Montgomery Canal. Guided walks around the quarry and the heritage area can be arranged by contacting the group through their web site via the related link provided. The Friends also liaise with Powys County Council, Shropshire Wildlife Trust and Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust. There is a strong educational focus to their work and school parties regularly use the facilities. Downloadable educational worksheets are a feature of the Llanylime website. For information about all aspects of the Llanymynech Heritage Area, the quarries, draw kilns, Hoffman kiln and chimney, the associated tramways and Local Nature Reserve, please follow the related link provided to visit the Llanylime website.
