Wem Combine Harvesters, organised by Wem and District Garden Club, Wem Civic Society, and Incredible Edible in Wem, is open to all members of the community including people in the surrounding villages. Two of the projects that it organises are: The biannual Wem Spring and Harvest Markets for producers of food, drink, crafts and plants who operate within a 30-mile radius of Wem. The Apple Exchange: surplus apples are collected and turned into apple juice. This is sold to fund other projects run by the three groups and in aid of the Wem Civic Society’s ‘Civic Fund’, which provides small grants for works around Wem. Volunteers are needed as organisers, stewards, apple pickers etc. Meeting are held in the Meeting Room of the Castle Hotel, as and when needed.
