The Fordhall Community Land Initiative is a Social Enterprise working to develop the Fordhall Organic Farm as a thriving organic farm and as an educational resource helping people to connect food, the environment and farming.They are able to provide support for individuals with a Personal Budget, and cater for individuals interested in working in their community garden, growing vegetables and fruit, learning about gardening whilst also being sensitive to the needs of the environment. There are also opportunities to partake in outdoor cooking sessions such as baking pizzas in the clay oven or making and cooking soups over an open fire. They also offer conservation work on the farm, the chance to help maintain the community orchard and much more, including offering support to individuals in a friendly, safe and caring environment.Fordhall operate a Youth Project working with young people struggling in the classroom, who are invited to attend the farm once a week through the academic year. The project requires some funding from participating schools and works with the young people to develop their skills whilst building their confidence and self-esteem. Educational group visits for schools and clubs / associations are also welcomed with funding available.There is a Nature Trail, picnic area, farm shop and tea room. The farm is open six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, and events are held throughout the year. Families are most welcome at the farm, and a fun trail pack is available, to help you go out and explore the farm.The farm can also host group bookings in their function room, which is also available for private parties, and guided tours can be booked in advance, as can group lunches or functions.The Straw Lodge is an eco-friendly bunkhouse on site that can accommodate groups such as schools, Cubs and Brownies for residential educational stays as well as being a venue for workshops and retreats.There are opportunities for volunteers to contribute indoors or outdoors, including help with office tasks, painting, planting seeds and more.For more information, please follow the link to visit the Fordhall Farm website.
