The historic Buttercross was built in 1743-46 on the site of the High Cross, which was the official centre of the town. The museum enjoys fabulous views along the listed buildings of Broad Street, to the countryside beyond. The Buttercross exhibits include fossils from Ludlow’s unique geology depicted in the Murchison section; the prehistory of Ludlow area and Bromfield; the Bitterley Hoard, artefacts from Ludlow church and medieval castle and much more.
