Beckbury C.E. Primary School and Nursery is a small rural school as part of The Trinity Federation for pupils aged 2 to 11 years old. The school is made up of three mixed aged classes comprising of Wrekin Class – Nursery and Reception, Malvern Class – Year One, Two and Three and Brecon Class – Year Four, Five and Six. The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children, delivered in small classes where the individual emotional, social and academic needs of all pupils can be met. Beckbury Church of England Primary School and nursery is situated in a beautiful rural setting on the southern edge of Beckbury Village. The school is at the heart of the local parish community and serves a large rural area covering Beckbury, Badger, Grindle, Kemberton and Ryton as well as attracting children from nearby towns. We are proud of the family atmosphere of our school. The children are happy, secure and well-motivated. They are encouraged to be independent, kind to one another and to care for their surroundings. The school is set in delightful grounds, with a large garden area, school sports field, playground space marked with children’s games, a fenced early years play area and a fenced wildlife area and pond. In recent years the children have been involved in planning and building an enlarged vegetable garden complete with polytunnel and potting shed and a quiet garden. These are maintained by the children. The school is surrounded by open countryside. We have a vibrant busy Pre-Nursery with two year groups of Nursery and a Reception children. The children enjoy a wide range of activities both within the class as well as a dedicated covered courtyard (with the opportunity to spill out into a larger area). All children are involved with phonics and counting on a daily basis. Reception and second year Nursery are also enjoying the start of their reading journey where we have a good breadth of material (both fiction and non-fiction). Forest School has proved very popular, here the children have the opportunity to roam wild in our wild area – digging, planting and exploring in the large garden with a veg plot, orchard, wildlife pond and fruit bushes. We are proud of the family atmosphere of our mixed age nursery. The children are happy, secure, and well-motivated. They are encouraged to be independent and learn alongside each other as well as children in Reception. Nursery operates on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. There are three sessions available for nursery on these days: Morning session begins at 8:50am and ends at 12:00 noon. Morning session including lunch, begins at 8:50am and ends at 1:15pm or an all day session, begins at 8:50am and ends at 3:15pm.Local offer: Children may present with special educational needs either throughout, or at any time during, their school career. The curriculum planning and assessment for children with special educational needs takes account of the type and extent of the difficulty experienced by the child. This inclusive approach is underpinned by the school’s SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Policy. While the teaching staff at Beckbury are responsible for the day-to-day provision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disability, they are supported internally by a qualified SENDCo and, where appropriate, by a qualified Director of SEND and Inclusion through the Trinity Federation link. The structure and support offered ensures that all pupils, whatever their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school and that they are able to achieve their potential. In line with government policy, Beckbury School and Nursery offers an inclusive learning environment, where the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities can be met within a mainstream setting, if this fits in with the aspirations of individual families.
