Onny Church of England Primary School is a friendly, village school. The school prides itself on its family feel and inclusive nature. Our pupils establish strong and supportive relationships with each other and all staff members as they move through the school. At Onny, our pupils develop a love of learning. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which is creative, inspiring and fun. Alongside developing the skills and knowledge required within the national curriculum subjects, we feel it is important for our pupils to develop skills which will support them throughout their life. Our school is situated in rural Shropshire, in Onibury, just off the A49 at the railway crossing. Our location is ideal for making use of the surrounding countryside. All of our pupils attend forest school sessions, which take place in our forest school site or in the woodlands above the school. In addition, we have a large field with a trim trail, which is surrounded by beautiful open fields. The children make use of the field for outdoor learning opportunities alongside sports coaching. We regularly attend sports festivals and competitions, where the children play alongside and compete against pupils from other schools in the local area and every child has the opportunity to attend these. Throughout their primary school years, pupils attend swimming lessons at Ludlow Leisure Centre. Onny offers a breakfast club, which runs from 8am until 9am. Children attending breakfast club will be offered a bowl of cereal and a piece of toast with a drink. There is a small charge for this. We offer an after school club every day from Monday to Thursday. The club is split into two sessions, the first one running from 3:20pm until 4:30pm and the second session running from 4:30pm until 5:30pm. During this time, the children are giving a drink and healthy snack. From 3:20pm until 4:30pm, we provide a structured activity each evening and from 4:30pm until 5:30 pm the children are allowed to choose to play with a range of games and activities. We charge £4.50 for children staying until 4:30pm and then an additional £7.00 for children staying until 5:30pm. Little Pippins is a small friendly nursery setting attached to Onny C of E Primary School, Onibury. We enjoy a peaceful, scenic village location and make the most of our expansive countryside surroundings and exciting outside spaces on daily basis. Our smaller-sized setting enables us to tailor opportunities specifically to suit the needs and interests of every individual child in our care and we pride ourselves on developing strong nurturing relationships with each child. Through our ethos centred on play and exploration we foster independence, resilience and happiness. We offer 24u funding, 3 & 4 year old 15 hours and the extended 30 hours term time only. Two of Early Years Team have extensive experience working to support children with speech and language difficulties and one is ELKAN trained.
