Play therapy helps children express and make sense of difficult feelings through the natural language of play. Rather than expecting children to talk about their problems in the way adults do, play therapy gives them the space, materials and support to communicate and process at their own pace. I am a PTUK Registered Play Therapist who works with children on a wide range of concerns including anxiety, school refusal, grief, family breakdown, trauma, anger, attachment difficulties and behavioural challenges. Sessions are usually held weekly, either in school or in a dedicated therapy space, and parents and carers are kept informed throughout with regular updates. Play therapy is suitable for children who may be struggling to put their feelings into words — and it can make a real difference to their emotional wellbeing, confidence and behaviour both at home and at school.
