Community Resource offer free Stroke Awareness workshops to help you better understand risk factors, prevention, and life after stroke. Whether you or someone close to you has experienced a stroke, or you’re simply looking to learn more about stroke prevention, this workshop will help you understand stroke and how to manage your risk. It covers: types of stroke, symptoms, and treatment; how to spot early warning signs; tips for stroke prevention and healthy living; and life after stroke – for survivors and carers. You will also have the opportunity to: watch a question and answer session with a stroke nurse specialist from Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust; try a free introductory exercise session; and get details of local stroke support groups and charities. These workshops typically last a couple of hours and are available at venues across the county. Community Resource also run other health workshops covering a range of different topics including arthritis, continence, diabetes, falls prevention, healthy eating, and menopause.
