Jigsaw Sound is a well-established, adult, mixed voice choir based in Shrewsbury. Following its formation in January 2007 the choir has a membership of 60 voices. The choir was formed with a definite policy of seeking to draw most of its membership from people who have little or no experience in singing. The ability to read music is not necessary. The whole essence of the choir is to have fun together through the medium of music and they, therefore, have no committee, rule book or constitution. The choir learn and perform a wide range of music. Jigsaw Sound performs regularly in concert and at charitable events in Shropshire and adjoining counties. All concert donations are given to the choir’s chosen charity and this is selected by members each year. The chosen charity for 2022 is the The Sea Change Trust. The choir has been on musical tours to Rhineland in Germany, the Bavarian Alps and the Austrian Lakes, plus in 2012 a long weekend tour to Harrogate, 2013 to Derbyshire, 2015 to The Cotswolds. 2016 to Torbay and in August 2018 to East Devon and most recently to Northumberland in August 2022. For new members, they run a feeder choir called Missing Pieces. As a smaller group it offers a more relaxed environment in which to learn and catch up with the main choir repertoire. Experienced singers also come along to this to help teach and support new members. Progress into Jigsaw Sound can therefore be achieved within the comfort level of each member.
