The school is in a rural setting in the hamlet of Newtown, near Wem, Shropshire. It is an important focal point for the community. The community celebrated the 150th anniversary of the original part of the school in July 2004. The original part of the school was built in 1854 with the old school house that stood on the site of what is now the Brian Robinson memorial garden. Two classrooms were added in the 1970’s and two demountable classrooms were added later. This build offers the children excellent accommodation . The school has a playground and field which was extended in 2002. This was part of an ambitious community scheme which incorporates a play area, park, wetland area and car park The Millennium Path provides a safe pedestrian route to school. The school grounds have been enriched with an allotment, willow dome, gazebo, activity trail, outdoor classroom with stage and areas of all-weather surfacing to enable year-round access and use.
