The Shrewsbury Steam Trust is a voluntary organisation that maintains the machinery and operates the engines and boiler at the Coleham Pumping Station on its open days. Coleham Pumping Station is a preserved sewage pumping station on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, and members meet at least once a week throughout the year, to help rebuild small machinery, keep the building and its environs tidy, and maintain and run the massive beam engines and Cornish boiler. Extra days are scheduled as they are needed, and volunteers do not have to attend all the days – even just a few days’assistance during the year is greatly appreciated. New members and volunteers are always welcome to come along and assist with maintaining the exhibits. No previous experience is required – just the willingness to get involved and drink lots of tea! Membership is open to all at just £12 per year, and if you would like to get involved the Steam Trust would love to hear from you.
