Mayfair Health Walks are short walks designed to enable people to enjoy some exercise out in the fresh air. These group walks are led by trained volunteer walk leaders who lead the walk at a pace to suit those who come along. They are free and you do not need to book – just turn up a few minutes early to your first walk so that you can meet the walk leader. They are a great way to enjoy some exercise in a friendly social group, and evaluation shows that walkers are feeling fitter, breathing easier, losing weight, making new friends, discovering new local places and much more. All Mayfair Health Walks start at the Mayfair Community Centre (MC) or the adjacent Health and Wellbeing Centre (HWC), as follows: Tuesday: 10.30am (MC) – off-road, faster paced walk featuring hills, steep gradients and stiles. (approx 2 hours), Wednesday: 10.30am (MC) – may include moderate slopes, steps or uneven surfaces, generally no stiles (up to 90 minutes). Wednesday: 11am (HWC) – gentle pace, paved or good paths, few gradients (between 10 and 30 minutes). Thursday: 10.30am (HWC) – on paved or good paths, some gentle gradients, no stiles (up to 60 minutes) Friday: 10.30am (MC) – off-road, gentle pace, moderate gradients and few stiles (between 1.5 and 2 hours).
